Workplace Equipment Assessment
It seems like assessments leave so much room for engagement, yet so often we default to using multiple choice, true/false, or matching questions to get the job done. Sometimes it requires one to step back and imagine how assessment can best mirror real-life application. I think of Hamlet contemplating the question as to whether art mirrors life, or if it is the other way around. In any case, there is reciprocity in that relationship, and his provocation is the same question that rears its head when I am developing assessments. I suppose it may be the case for most of us who defer to constructivism as an educational framework for direct instruction and assessment.Needless to say, this assessment reflects an opportunity I was given to step back and consider how to mirror real-life application of knowledge in the form of an assessment. Go ahead and give it a try!
